On `Springer Complexity’
According to this general explanation, ``Complex Systemsare systems that comprise many interacting parts with the ability to generate a new quality of macroscopic collective behavior the manifestations of· which are the spontaneous formation of· distinctive temporal, spatial or functional structures.’’
It should be clearly noted that this book criticizes this fundamentally wrong view point. See p24.
General use of `she’ for the third person singular pronoun
The English editor of this book (who was excellent and to whom the author is immensely grateful) questioned the use of `she’ in place of the conventional `he.’ The author decided to stick to the original `she,’ because `physics,’ especially theoretical physics, is heavily masculine. However, in some rare occasions this book uses `he’ as well. It is usually confined to the occasions here this person claims something wrong. `He’ is of course used in the place of God.
